1. isnt a critter lover( just call me ellie may clampet)
2. does not have an undying love for the ocean and everything in it.( call me jaque cousto)
3. is not a plant freak and tree freak(paul james the gardenerguy is my hero.)
4. does not know what the practical application of shampoo, toothpaste, and soap is used for.(mr.clean gets rid of grease and grime and dirt in just a minute!)
5. does not understand that a little dog fur can be used in the compost pile.
6. does not understand that if the weather gets bad you can snuggle w/ the animals to keep warm if the lites go out.

Yeah. I know you didn't ask me . . . . but I am a husband of 43 and a half years. And the only thing that comes between me and my wife in bed were our babies when they were infants. . . . . . and our first grandson, whom we are raising(he just turned 17 last Thanksgiving day). Now occasionally, the newer grandchildren as well, when are graced by their presence when their parents want to rest a little for a couple of nights, or so.

I don't know about dogs, but with our kids and grandkids, they would fall asleep on my chest in the evening. And after I put them between my wife and I, they're good for the night until 6:30 or 7:00 AM. No feeding, no diaper changing, no crying at night. And we have 5 kids, plus the grandson!

Oh! When we had dogs (Borzoi, Golden Retriever, and Black Lab, over various periods), they had their own beds. . . . . and I thought they were pretty happy with the arrangement. Besides, the Borzoi is bigger than a Shetland Pony!

All I can say is to each its own.
If you are happy, then do it.
I have cats and I had dogs and fishes. And I have an African grey that will converse with you but specially with my wife.
But I have ashma too. So my bed is out of the question.
And I have 3 teenagers, all boys.
I ended up taking care of all our adopted children after my sons lost their interest. We got them when my kids are kids. Now they have girlfriends.
How time flies.

well the fact that you have ashma is a good reason not to let them in the bed! sorry to hear that.at one time i had an 8 ft iguana that slept in the bed w/ me, 3 cats, 1 dog,and a husband. he(the husband) didnt like the idea of sharring the bed. so we remidied the situation....i had the cats and the lizard longer then i had him and i told him if he didnt like it he could ride the couch. he was a butthead anyway. he said the couch was lumpy.when we moved north merlin(iguana) went to live w/ a friend who had a arboritium in his house and he had a little girl iguana. i didnt want to change merlins climate so he still lives in fl, i miss him. i dont miss the ex.
