24-8-16 is the formulation on the "tropical foliage special" fertilizer I order in for my bananas and tropical plants. It makes bananas and tropicals grow like crazy. It also contains trace elements. My dealer said I'm like the only person in Indiana ordering "tropical foliage special", go figure! I can weigh/bag up some for you for $3.50 a pound plus shipping if anyone is interested. I'd say if you want just a couple of pounds usps parcel post will most likely be cheapest. To use, feed them 100 ppm at the beginning of the summer when they're first transplanted, then as the weather gets hotter and they're growing faster--up it to 200-300 ppm. 100 ppm is about 1T per gallon of water, 200= 2T, etc. Back it back off in the fall and quit fertilizing about a month before first frost for in ground installations, go back to 100 ppm for potted.... When you want to purchase this, PM me with your complete address and how much you want to purchase, then I can figure an exact shipping quote for you. I can't figure it without at least having your zip code! Thanks and happy growing! Sandy @ Northern Tropics www.northerntropics.com Be sure and check out my online store too! |

fertilizer question, 06-11-2008 10:15
1st, that's a very good formula, especially for foliage. I love the lower phosphorus percentage. Question: from your description, it sounds like a granular or powder that dissolves in water, true?

yes, it's an instant dissolving powder. I guess it would have been good to tell you about that, huh? I run it through my fertilizer injector at the greenhouse, but you can mix it up and apply it by the gallon too.Sorry for the confusion! Sandy |

How about a dissolving powder for fruiting bananas?, 06-11-2008 14:37
Can you also obtain a dissolving powder with the correct ratios for fruiting plants; e.g., 16-8-24 (or 16-1-24) that does not contain too much sulfur or other secondaries?
