![]() This isn't exactly bananas but is banana related. We'd like to sell our home in the Banana Republic, San Pedro Sula, Honduras and move back to the states, mainly because our two boys are approaching high school age. I'm retired now and have worked for both Chiquita and Dole. I've always thought this would be a perfect retirement home for someone seeking an adventurous change and interested in growing bananas. According to soil studies, no additional K is needed.
San Pedro Sula has all the modern conveniences of the first world with fiber optic cable ringing the city, excellent internet, supermarkets, hardware stores, etc. There's a vibrant expat community. The property is conveniently located in a very safe and quiet residential neighborhood at the end of a dead end street abutting a river reserve area. Has 4 bedrooms, 4 baths, maid quarters, store room, pool, fireplace, large up and down porches, US satellite TV system. We bought the large empty lot next door and converted it into a garden including several banana varieties, specialty fruit trees and shaded family area. If anyone's interested, PM me for pics and and any questions. It was recently appraised for around $395,000. Steve |
