How Southern are you? They grow and look great in Pensacola Florida but I never get bananas.

Just south of Lafayette. I would have to put it in the ground yr round, so it would have to handle 25-32 degrees under mulch in the winter. My husband and I are still talking about it, but we certainly want bananas.

The plant is a beast .
This plant holds well in a container.
Overwinters well indoors with less than ideal conditions.
Keeps well under artificial lights.
Responds quickly to the outdoors.

I'll know in a couple of months what my mat looks like. I never trim till all danger of frost has past about twenty more days here and then just fitting it in the schedule. I should have pups. Do you ever come this way or as far as Biloxi?

After my husband finishes this job he is working on, we are looking hard at this. Does it do well in the ground there? I am on Oxygen, so travel is hard. How much would one cost?

I am also looking for a dwarf red if anyone has one. Recently ordered one online but pretty sure it's a Sumatrana X Cross after comparing with the Wiki pages. Definitely not a red banana as it has red wine marks all over the leaves. If someone has one they are willing to sell I would definitely be interested.
