Not sure where your located but I've already seen some for sale at my local Lowe's this year. This one is becoming very common and most nurseries are carrying them as well.

Hey, I'm in south Louisiana, our Lowes doesn't have any. The bananas that they do carry aren't what I'm looking for, but thanks anyway. I want to make sure I'm getting exactly what I want, you know how women can be. lol

I just ordered one from Excelsa Gardens, Home of Unusual Tropical Plants, Landscape Plants, Heliconia, Gingers, landscapers. I believe it was a 3 gallon pot for about 9.50. It was a rather large wholesale order that I placed. Not sure if they retail or not, but it is worth a shot.
They also had 7 gal for $35 and 15 gal for $75 |

Hi bigbeeboss,
Where in south Louisiana are you? I live in Fordoche near Livonia. You will see Maurelli all over the place in a few weeks. Louisiana Showcase Nurserey had tons of them last year. |

I live in Cankton, which is between Scott and Sunset, about 10 minutes from Lafayette. Where is the Louisiana Showcase Nurserey?

Louisiana Showcase Nurserey is in Baton Rouge. I expect the Lowe's and Home Depot in your area will carry them also. The Lowe's in Baton Rouge already has spindle palms, triangle palms and foxtail palms. They also currently have white and orange bird of paradise. These are plants that until recently were not readily available in our area. I expect the trend to continue with even more tropical plants available this year. In all the new housing developements around here I am seeing more and more previously uncommon plants being used for landscaping. If you look around you can find some great deals. I just bought a really nice spindle palm about 5' tall for $20 at Lowe's. Then last week I bought a 6' queen palm for $11.25 at Home Depot. Just be sure to check out how hardy the plants are that you are buying. I will have to keep the spindle palm in a pot and bring it in during winter.
