Default Dwarf Iholena For Sale

I ordered a Dwarf Iholena Plants and wanted to get some of them out if anyone wants one or two.

They are in 4" pots with good soil and are between 4"-8" tall.

They receive morning sunlight for several hours, and afternoon/evening sun for several hours each day.

They are TC from a USDA cultivated plant by a reputable TC company.

I am asking for 18$ for one plant, that includes shipping.

I'll throw in a second plant for 12$, for a total of 30$ for 2 if you want more than one.
That price includes shipping.

I take paypal.

If you would like one, PM me and we'll get it going.

I'll only ship in the USA.

Thanks
Larry

Notice the Mauve underside.

I believe Rob has stated these to most likely be Iholena Iholena, and I believe he thinks they came from someone over in Hawaii that he knows.

5'-8' approx or there abouts.

I have what was sold as "Dwarf Iholena" from Baker Creek Seeds. I suspect they got it from Agristarts who was selling Dwarf Iholena at the time. I wrote Agristarts and asked them about their Dwarf Iholenas, and they told me that they were "Iholena Iholena". The Kepler and Rust book says that Iholena Iholena gets 6-8' in Hawaii. Mine does indeed look like an Iholena. It has faint "mauve" colored cigar leaves, yet the trunk doesn't look like Misi Luki/Mysore. But it's already 8'. If it doesn't flower soon I will wonder how much of a "dwarf" mine is. I thought that it would have flowered already, based on the increase in the trunk diameter. But apparently the Pacific plantains are different than what I have experience with.

They should be Maia Haia (Iholena iholena) a very rare form of dwarf white iholena. These range 6-8’ a little taller than the Ha’A which may sadly be extinct.

These are AAB types. If you want a dwarf or a short cycle banana this is it! Should be about as fast as Musa Tigua. I’m every excited to see next year! This will be a for sure keeper.

Got mine in today! Looks amazing! Very healthy.
Thanks again Larry for making this one available to us! $18 for a short cycle dwarf banana! You can’t go wrong with this one!

8' of pseudostem would still be a dwarf. I get that with Dwarf Brazilian, Highgate, dwarf Namwah, and others. Mine have fruited at 6-7', though everything fruits short for me.

Rob how do you compare the iholena iholena taste vs iholena Tigua? And even other iholena types? Are they similar?

To me Tigua was amazing! Not sure where they get plantain from! Tigua was nothing like a plantain. It was an excellent sweet banana to me!

Yeah, Iholenas are nothing like Plantains. I haven't really had any cooking banana that is. I haven't had Tigua, nor have I done a taste test at the same time as other Iholenas. They all taste pretty similar to me of the ones I've had, maybe 5 different Hawaiian Iholenas. My friend is able to tell some differences between them. I find them all mediocre if eaten ripe.

SdDarkman, I sent a message earlier this week about ordering 2 of these for $30 shipped. Didn't hear back from you. Do you still have these or are they sold out? Thanks.

I'm curious what you pay for a flat? $15 FOR ONE .. marked up. tHAT'S ROUGHLY $20 for one 4-6 in plant. In CA you'd be making a fortune lol I wonder if these tc sellers ship here. There's an idea for the spring I have a network of people here who are looking.

It's not a fortune.
I plant these in new soil, in new pots and water and feed them till they are rooted in the pots. takes some time. Not really a fortune.

oh and then threre's the greenhouse and heating in the winter.

Flats run about $1.6 /plant ($115.20) to $2/plant ($144,00) with a min order of 2 flats plus shipping. ... Then at the above offered price, parcel postage would be about 1/3 to 1/2 of the price. Rob isn't making a killing considering his time, labor, and green house expenses to harden off the TC plantlets after deducting any plantlet losses. However, one would have a MUCH better success rate growing one of his plants than growing a TC plantlet from Florida Hills.

spot on right! you also have to pay for packaging, tape, etc. then the time to print labels, then deal with the post office. me I couldn't leave the plants in the hot sun waiting for the postman I would have to go to the post office and stand in line to get them out faster. then there is the customer who don't know diddly about tc's and expect the plants there yesterday. he's had trouble with one customer on the org. that I know of.

then when you get your flats you got to pot them today not tomorrow.

believe I would be asking more. but then you have compete with florida hills prices don't you.

keep up the good work sddarkman619. you provide a valuable service.

What ever that doesn't sell, gets bigger (3ft to 4 ft) then sells local to landscapers or at the flea market for much more $$$.
