Comment on the best sources for Musaceae seeds
 

I have hit or miss luck with seeds that I have ordered online.
Please give feedback on the following suppliers and add any that you no of that I do not.

Rarepalmseeds.com
Ortanique.com
Andersonseeds.com
Bananatree.com

I can only speak for Rare Palm Seeds, kinda, try Tim Chapman at www.gingerwoodnursery.com, he has nearly all of the Musa and Ensete seeds that are available anywhere else but at half the price, he orders from Rare Palm seeds and Nature Products (Meekong Hill Garden), althought the later company is no longer selling seeds but Tim still has them.

Anderson is the only one out of the three that I haven't tried.
Rare palm seeds is great because they tell if it is fresh or not, and the other two are fine, it's just best to keep your eye on them to see when they get new(fresh) seeds. I think fall/winter is probally the best time to buy banana seeds in general.
OH no that sucks that Nature products isn't selling seeds anymore! I hope the yellow forest banana seeds become available again(my one crapped out) , and that hybrid they created.
Ditto on the gingerwood nursery too, perfect size packets.

Now that tropicallvr mentions about nature products.Did anyone managed to get seeds form the species M. sp nov.?, the one with the big flower?
Is this the one you're talking about tropicallvr?

Nope, the big flower is different that the yellow forest one, but I did manage to get a couple of those to sprout, and they are proving to be variable(one with red seam).
And I still want to trade it to you Gabe(as soon as the one is big enough)

I'm going to try gingerwood nursery soon for some seeds, as I'm joggling with some empty pots at the moment :p

This is an old thread, but I thought that I would add that europalms offers musa seeds as well, including the fabled musa ingens.
