Re: Banana plants for sale in SoCal
How long did it take till your gros michel got big enough to fruit?
|
Re: Banana plants for sale in SoCal
My Gros Michel is about 5-6 feet tall PS. It is about two and a half years old grown from TC. It should be much larger but I left it in a one gallon pot for over a year. I finally put it in the ground last summer. I expect it to bloom this summer. It is a very attractive plant.

So the photo of the bunch you have isn't from your plant. I ask as Myself adn Richard have GM's and they are SLLOOOWWWWww.....growing here in San Diego and Vista. I expect because the weather isn't tropical enough. |
Re: Banana plants for sale in SoCal
I would not describe mine as slow but it isn't one of my faster growers either. It grows faster than my Dwarf Red, Red Iholene and California Gold. I will keep a little better track of it this summer when it heats up.

Re: Banana plants for sale in SoCal
Hello sddarkman619,
I just found and joined the forum. Very fresh newbie here. Pretty much just joined cause I bought a "Ice Cream" banana from another person and found out after 2 years that it was a NamWa apparently and I heard that buying from many online places you may run into the situation that I found myself in. Basically spending years expecting 1 type of banana and getting a completely different one. I figured I would try a forum member as they would have a greater chance of knowing what type of banana they are selling. I happened to find Bill and was in the area and arranged to meet him and buy several types. I just wanted to share my experience with other members here because I was very happy with his knowledge and helpfulness and figured other newbies may appreciate the feedback. Cheers! |

Re: Banana plants for sale in SoCal
Do you have namwahs in 3 gallons left? Are these a "dwarf" variety? I live in long beach and can probably come get one.
