Anyone here selling Blue Java plants or pups?
Back in November I bought 2 from Florida Hill and they didn't make it and were the runts of the bunch I ordered from them at that time. All the rest are still doing ok, but that was the reason I decided to start growing bananas as I was intrigued by the Blue Java. Hoping to find one that can start growing this year, and hopefully one that is a true Blue Java. I do have Dwarf Namwahs (4) so at least I'll have something maybe 90% close to a Blue Java based on flavor and texture from what I've read.

If all else fails, go to Homestead and going bananas. People should be thinning mats soon, though. Be patient.

I sent you a private message after you DMed me this same thing prior to posting it publically. I run a tropical fruit nursery and Blue Java bananas are our biggest seller. As I stated in the DM, we hope to have more available at the Manatee County Rare Fruit Councils tree sale on May 20th. |
Re: Anyone here selling Blue Java plants or pups?
Sulcata Grove, I know but even in the private message you never answered questions I asked like how many you had for sale, the size of them (if they were in 3 gallon pots), and how many leaves they had and the general height of these. Also wanted a few pictures to demonstrate the size to me since buying from you wouldn't be very convenient as I have to make an appointment first? That's quite a hassle to do if I am going to just buy 1 or 2 Blue Java plants. I would have been really upset had I made an appointment to buy one or two Blue Java's and they were basically the size of the TC starts I have been dealing with so far. Also, I'm not really wanting to do a 3 hour tour, I just want to buy some plants. Sorry.

Re: Anyone here selling Blue Java plants or pups?
FYI: Florida hill, Green Earth Publishing Co, Wellspring Gardens, etc. don't have the real deal blue java, scroll down this post and read my comments: http://www.bananas.org/f3/want-feedb...ing-47875.html
Looking on this forum to get the real deal ID verified plant is your best bet. A good way to verify the ID of what the vendor is selling is to ask them to send you a link to photos of their plant or a thread that they made on this forum. It might be difficult for them to get a photo of the corm for sale, especially if other buyers don't ask and there's a line for that particular plant. I've purchased many corms from several vendors here and NEVER had any mis-representation with the size or ID of the plants (I've fruited most of them). If it was small, the vendor warned me. All of the reputable vendors here are gardening folks and will take good care of you. They are generally careful to not to make any mis-representations because they can easily lose their reputation here on the forum. If you have a dispute with a vendor, it's best to discuss and resolve that dispute privately if possible. Give the seller all the chances possible before resorting to public shaming. Other vendors who have what you're looking for might hesitate to help you because they might be wary of having a thread like this showing up against them. When it comes to ID verified rare bananas in high demand, it's currently a seller's market (well, it'll probably always be that way), which means that they'll treat you professionally and with courtesy, but if you have a unique demand, they may not be willing to meet it, especially if the rest of the buyers don't have the same demands. For example, in California, when you're buying a house in the SF Bay Area, you have no chance of landing one if you place a 17 day, inspection contingency, since all other bids for the house have no contingencies and they'll buy as is. In any case, good luck finding that blue java, I'm sure someone here has one for you! |

Just an FYI for myself and others, if I would have scheduled an appointment the day I received your original PM would I have gotten in before the person that bought all the Blue Javas? Just curious as I don't know how quick an appointment can be set for. Is it usually the same hour, the same day, next day, next week etc.? Thanks. |
Re: Anyone here selling Blue Java plants or pups?
Anyone even know if a TC grower like Agristarts would have these? Hell, I'd buy a flat just to see if I can get at least half to grow out and then I can corner the market on these as no one is selling them...
