I am sure it will be fine, basjoos are very resilient. I didn't look at the video but normally when transplanting a pup there is an 'open wound' where it was separated from the mother so this is nothing unusual, and I would plant them upright myself.

I would put it in a well draining mix (I would at least add perlite to the coir to make a 1:1 mixture) in a warm area with bright light but not necessarily full sun, although with its lack of leaf mass, sun may not matter much.

Don't plant it too deep! Just enough to cover the corm.

It looks like the top it fairly well smashed but I can't really tell for sure. If so, I would cut it down a bit to remove the smashed portion.

Water it well once and then leave it alone, checking on it occasionally to make sure the leaf is growing. Don't water it again until the medium is mostly dry and/or it shows some good growth.

I am guessing it will come to life quickly.

thank you for your encouraging words about the basjoo being resilient enough to handle it, that makes me very hopeful

unfortunately i dont have any perlite at hand and hardware stores or plant centers are difficult to access here at the moment. do you think it could survive with only coir?

since the medium is supposed to dry out i guess i should remove the humidity dome in order for it being able to dry?

Those cuts are about normal for separating pups from the mother corm. ...Plant the pup corm with the neck UP AND AT THE LINE/SURFACE. ... The cut will heal over and grow roots, as it should. ...There is nothing to worry about.
