slicing a corm
just a thought but was wondering can you slice a corm vertically into say 1/2 inch slices like slicing a tomato and plant them will the slices grow a new banana plant or will they just rot and die

Re: slicing a corm
It seems to me they would, but special care may be needed.

Re: slicing a corm
Some would probably grow, but you’d have better luck cutting them like an orange to make wedges. 4 pieces is fine, you could try more but better to try on larger corms.

Re: slicing a corm
You have to make sure that there are growing points.
Kinda like a potatoes eyes. If your corm piece doesn't have One it wont sprout. |

Re: slicing a corm
Dig up a corm and have a look. Thats the best way to see what they look like.
just wash off the dirt and they're not hard to spot. Varieties and the size of a corm will be the difference in how many you'll have. Not every knarly corm piece will grow if you just cut it up and plant it. That's the point. |
