Self Watering flood trays
So I've been growing for a number of years now. Always learning, well trying but something hit me on the head the other day. Why not make a self watering flood system so I can stop hand watering and wasting so much water?
My plants are in 4" pots and when they start getting bigger it's harder to water from above as they act like umbrellas. LOTS of wasted water and time. Pictured is my self watering flood trays. The water is pumped up from the reservoir below, once the tray is full enough it starts self siphoning to the next tray below. And then again to the next tray below, and then back into the reservoir. I am still working out the logistics and other fine tuning. But so far has worked great with the 1 watering I have done. Ran the pump for about 1 hour, saturated the pots and have not watered since. It's been almost 1 week. The pots are still moist so I think I may install a fan to get more air flow. |

Re: Self Watering flood trays
I had seen those irrigation trays and mats used locally for a few years now and the plants looked so much better than hand watered.
