Hybrid Seeds

Would seeds from hybrid fruits germinate?
Can they be TC'ed? Thanks, Alberto.

Re: Hybrid Seeds

Helen's Hybrid, Daj Giant, Ornata are all hybrids that seem to germinate and TC without much problem.

Re: Hybrid Seeds

Its a case by case scenario, some crosses produce lots of viable seed while other may produce only a few. Additionally, hybrid plants (and especially cultivated edible bananas) vary widely in fertility. Embryo rescue germination works well for most properly formed embryos, I have had success using normal Musa micropropagation medium without any BA.

Thanks James and Gabe. As soon as I go to the countryside IŽll post some photos for identification. Maybe you might know how to collect seeds from them.
