funguscide dip for REPLANTING SUCKERS
REPLANTING SUCKERS
What is a good Dip in which to immerse banana suckers, before replanting? We don’t use sprays and unfortunately, we have Banana Borers. Thanks |

Full strength wont hurt, if washed off well after a couple of minutes. ... I do this when working with one or two corms.
But 1 cup per gal of water and let the corm soak 10 to 20 minutes. Then rinse with clean water. ... works too. |

Definitely dilute the bleach.
You're going to want 6% sodium hypochlorite bleach. Concentrated will be 8%, and for the love of all things good, don't buy scented or splashless bleach as these contain additives. I'm only familiar with pool math, and your tap water is probably starting around 4ppm. My guess is 2 parts bleach to 9 parts water will make something around 12ppm which is plenty for killing fungus without doing long term harm to the plant. |

Paring the corms and inspecting for weevils is more important than bleach, if you aren’t doing that and making sure they arent already infested, then the bleach wont do much. If you do that, and also treat, then it is effective. I personally prefer hot water treatment however as in my experience it’s less harsh on the plants and easier to dispose of safely.

I agree with Gabe!.....Trim and inspecting the corm is the most important measurement!.....
Currently (lately), I have been using a "two steps" treatment AFTER inspecting/trimming the corm!....First step is the boil/hot water treatment!....I submerge the corm in hot water for 6-8 minutes!.....Then second step, the corm submerge in water with bleach treatment!....One cup of bleach for a gallon of water for 6-8 minutes!.... So far has been very successful using this methods/techniques!..... :2723::bananarow::2723: |

If you have banana borers you need something to control insects. The hot water method will kill the weevils and the diseases There are some biologicals that you might be able to dip the corms in as a preventive measure to protect the corms.

I see some people leave roots and plant it that way or leave the downside piece of corm they plant with some outer layer on it. Then of course some videos show people peeling the corm completely with no outer layer, dirt, or roots. |
