Salsa
Good afternoon everyone! I'm hoping that you guys know some good salsa recipes. I've looked around and just can't seem to find a really, really good one. My wife and I love the salsa at the restaurant chain On the Border. I know this company sells salsa and chips at the grocery stores, but it's nothing compared to the homemade restaurant salsa with fresh ingredients. Do you know any good salsa recipes for us to try? Thanks a lot!

Thanks Kylie - we can get all of those ingrediants except Rotel and I have to ask what that is - don't see it on the shelves here - is there a substitute as this recipe sounds yummy!

Re: Salsa
Thanks for posting, Kylie. I can't wait to try your recipe! It sounds very good. I've been disappointed with the other salsa recipes that I've tried in the past. I'll let you know how I like it when I make it. Thanks again!

Re: Salsa
My favorite salsa is what most places call pico de gallo. Ingredients are all fresh, of course.
The recipe is as follows: 2 parts 1/4 inch cubed tomatoes (Romas work the best and have a great flavor) 1 part 1/4 cubed white onion 1 part chopped cilantro Lime juice to help in keeping it turning brown Salt and pepper to taste. That's it. I add some minced jalapenos to give it some kick..... This stuff is addictive. Chips are just a delivery mechanism. Try it! |
Re: Salsa
Here's my favorite salsa recipe (from our recipe link on our website, Northern Tropics) I originally got the recipe from a Mexican cookbook.
Our Favorite Heirloom Tomato Salsa Heirloom tomatoes, chopped, 4 cups (approx 5 med-large) 1 large or 2 small green bell peppers 1 or 2 small hot chiles, to taste 1/2 cup chopped onion 1 teaspoon dried or 1 Tablespoon fresh cilantro 1/8 teaspoon dried crushed oregano or 1/4 teaspoon fresh 1 teaspoon salt Dice all ingredients into approx 1/2-1/4 inch pieces. Drain excess juice from tomatoes, then combine all ingredients. Refrigerate overnight to blend flavors, if you can wait that long! This recipe can be made in quantity, brought to a boil, and pressure canned (pints) for 10 minutes at 10 lbs pressure. Also, try putting all the veggie ingredients on the grill and browning them and then making the salsa for a different wonderful grilled and smoky taste! |
Re: Salsa
John and Sandy, thank you so much for posting those recipes! I can't wait to try each one (at different times or I'll get fat! LOL :)). I'm sure both are very tasty. I appreciate it!
