Hi guys,
I'm looking for a healthy Saba pup, in the 2'-3' size range, that can be shipped to New Jersey. I'm happy to pay all shipping costs, plus the price of the plant. I would need to receive it in April or early May. Please let me know if you can help! Thanks! ~Joe |

Joe,
Contact Chris (aka: Rmplmnz) from Tampa. I just got an email that he has lots of Sabá pups and he is thinning them out. Here's a thread about his "plantation". I'll let him know that you are looking for some. Saba Harvest |

Thanks guys, as the weather gets warmer I'll be in touch... it's currently just 7 degrees at my house, I'm shivering just thinking about it!
Looking forward to growing some monster Saba's this year! ~Joe |

Gee, I thought you said that the Sabá only grew to 12' or so. The one with the fruit looks more like 20' to me.

I love that last picture - I've seen it before and it's the main reason I want to try and grow a Saba!

Re: Wanted: Saba Pup
Joe what's wrong with people like you who know they don't live in the right region to grow plants like this?
I'd love to try and grow this plant also! My wife already thinks I'm crazy so why not try to grow another banana! |

lol..12' feet in the red dirt of Hawaii....20' feet plus in Tampa...they love that deep rich "well drained" (sandy layer) soil....organic, good climate and drainage...
I just measured the diameter of the biggest one I currently (which has not fruited yet)..56 inches..and I am guessing over 22' tall (did not try and measure this..lol)...I will post pics of it later....and take some pics in June/July when I cut it down....

56 inches is the circumference, i hope. The width of your shoulders appear to be wider than the trunk of any of the plants. 56" circ. would be equal to 17.8" in diameter, which would be more proportional to your figure. Very impressive, nevertheless! (The trunk, not your figure-LOL) Last edited by chong : 01-27-2007 at 02:27 PM. Reason: PS ("Porgot Something" in Filipino) |
