WANTED: Bananas in Hawaii
Hey I need a local here in Hawaii with some rare/common varieties I am starting my banana garden, Looking for Gros Michel or Highgate, Cocos, mysore, pisang klotek, dwarf brazilian, ice cream/other common varieties that do well here, I know DB does really well and tastes great with the soil we have here, I know everyone has it, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
More focused on getting some of the fruity desert bananas like mysore/other lady finger varieties with big flavor. Last edited by lukem5 : 10-15-2014 at 10:03 AM. |

Re: WANTED: Bananas in Hawaii
It would help if you state where exactly you are. There are a handful of us in Hawaii and we might be able to point you in the right direction. You can regularly find Ice Cream and DB aka Dwarf Apple at Home Depot statewide for $7.50 PK I've never come across. Mysore isn't rare, at least on the Big Island, and the GM cultivars may be found on Oahu as they were sold by the tissue culture program at UH on Oahu for a while.
