Hello Michael

I want to show you an up date picture of the two banana babies I got from you.

The weather is cooling down and I brought them inside. Are they easy to keep indoors in the living room during the winter? Or is it better to move them to a cooler room?

Marcel

Most of us who have grown them both in southern CA believe the answer is yes.

Even though they have the same fruit, same fruit as an Orinoco, I would highly doubt that. This is a Dwarf Orinoco w/ 6' p-stem isn't anywhere close to fruiting.

Here is a CaliGold w/ 6.5' p-stem fruited 115 fingers.

Maesy I think your plants look great just watch how close you place them to a window, and check temps (floor level next to window) versus room temp, and watch how much you water. :^)

This the answer you get from people that don't get much in the way of cold weather. I guess when you have to cut 3ft of p-stem off a DO after winter and I don't have to cut any off a CG and my CG's are more exposed that doesn't make much sense.. I can say my Dwarf Orinoco has seen its last season in my yard. A CG or Orinoco is so much better to grow than a DO. I think the DO has the cold tolerance of a Cavendish.. Here is my same DO from this time last year.. I think a Red Iholena would do much better in this spot.

Its the most disappointing variety I have.. to say the least..

My dwarf OR fruited at 6 ft and still has fruit hanging. It did perfectly fine with a unseasonably bad winter here last year with like 30's a few times for the overnight lows.

CG might be a mutant of DO,sure looks the same from pics on the board/net.

Color is wrong.. Do has more pink.. and gets red in the stem like the red tinges in a big Namwah trunk. Caligold is straight up green. I think DO would do well if it doesn't have to endure a freeze, but if it does forget it..
When you going to post a pic of your Dwarf Orinoco? How many hands does it have? :^)
