Hello,
Looking for someone willing to ship a legit Blue Java pup to Canada! Thanks! |

Whomever ships this, I recommend USPS Priority Mail because there is fare less inspection of packages than UPS. |
Re: Real Blue Java / Ice Cream in Canada
Richard is correct about the laws regarding importing plants into Canada.
But there are legal ways of getting around them, where in Canada are you located? |

Re: Real Blue Java / Ice Cream in Canada
Oneiromant- how is your blue java doing? I’m also trying to find one available in Canada and I’m having a lot of difficulty. Did yours do well over winter? I’m assuming you have it potted and wintered indoors? I’m in AB so I know they won’t survive our wintered there

The pup took quite awhile to really thrive (possibly due to my lack of experience starting from a pup), so it's a lot smaller than you might expect, but it's now really happy. Its root system wasn't establishing correctly -- perhaps I potted it up too early -- so I planted some beans in with it figuring they would help fix nitrogen and condition the soil. Ever since then, it's been growing happily. I definitely won't be leaving it out for the winter - I'll start making experiments of that sort once I've got my own pups. I've seen all sorts of tricks, and I think you could come up with something. I'm interested in trying to wrap a string of small christmas lights that generate a small amount of heat in with my bubble wrapping - heard of that being a success for citrus over winter to take the edge off. |
Re: Real Blue Java / Ice Cream in Canada
Oneiromant- that would be amazing! Thanks so much! No rush on messaging the fellow who sold it to you. Whenever your home and free to post pictures I’d be happy to see them.
I have also heard the Christmas lights and bubble wrap idea for warming Chicago hardy figs. It’s still too cold here in Alberta for Christmas lights and citrus but I’ve often thought about trying it on my rose bushes that are a zone warmer than what we are to see if it will help. I’ll be curious to see how the trick works for banana pups! |

![]() ![]() The first pic was from not too long after receiving it, when it first started showing signs of growth (that new leaf popping up). After that it had some root/soil issues, and that second pic is from today. I feel like I could've done a lot better in terms of growth but I have too many plants I'm managing! |
Re: Real Blue Java / Ice Cream in Canada
Canada has serious phytosanitary laws.
the impossible quiz |
Re: Real Blue Java / Ice Cream in Canada
That they do! So many plants I want but so expensive in order to ship with right certificates and so on

Re: Real Blue Java / Ice Cream in Canada
Oneiromant - I would love to get connected with who sent you your Blue Java, or if you have any pups.

Re: Real Blue Java / Ice Cream in Canada
Howdy DBcom! I sent him a message. Mine's going strong but still probably a year out from pups.
