Default Looking for Variegated Monstera Cutting.

I am new to the forum with my first banana tree and this place is awesome! I have always grown monsteras and rare dieffenbachias and cactuses. I saw on the forum that there were a couple growers of Monsteras. I would like to know if there are any growers of albo or variegated Monsteras for sale. I don't care if it is a cutting or not I have just always wanted to have one for the novelty of it - I just don't want to get a second mortgage on my house to get one. Thanks

I've been looking more and more into variegated Monsteras. I know Monstera Albo and Thai Constellation are ridiculously expensive but I am interested if anyone has any cuttings that they are willing to sell as well or other variegated Monstera cuttings. Thanks.

I'm sure members have cuttings because these plants grow fast and they are super easy to mass produce even with basic macropropagation skills. There are 2 different Thai Constellations that you probably should be aware of if you are buying a cutting and I don't know if they can be visually distinguished from each other because I've never inspected a TC TC. The variegation in the tissue cultured one is caused by a virus inserted during the process which is common with many variegated houseplants.

What's ridiculously expensive?

Here's what macropropagation looks like.

Monstera Albo

Thanks PR. When I said expensive, I said that because cuttings with one leaf are $200+ and five leafed plants are $1000+ plus online at the moment. I know its all relative but hey, $200 for a piece of any plant seems pretty high to me but I’m still trying to get something. I have not looked into how macropropagation is done for Monsteras but I will definitely investigate. Thanks again.

Any idea why someone would want the leaf?

The wholesale price per node is much less than that.

First thing I do with cuttings is remove the leaves.

What I was trying to say is people are selling cuttings that have developed a leaf and roots for $200+.

I think the super cheap prices on this forum makes prices on other sites seem expensive. Variegated banana are cheap because they grow so fast but it takes months for a variegated monstera cutting to root and produce a new plant.

$100 for a rooted node cutting seems reasonable if you're buying it on other sites and so does a $100 for a rooted plant and that's what that $200 plant would be if it's cut in two.

I ended up getting a rooted monstera albo cutting and a Thai constellation seedling. The Thai seedling looks good. Put up a new leaf. The Monstera has roots in soil but no leaf bud yet. Fingers crossed.
