This is an alocasia macrorrhiza that will be barerooted carefully from a one gallon pot. They are a little bigger than the one in this picture, being around 18" or so tall. It's snowing outside and very windy this morning and I don't feel like opening that greenhouse door and letting all the heat out. These are fast growers, like moisture outdoors and partial shade, not full sun. I don't know what zone they're hardy to because we have to bring them indoors for the winter here, but I think zone 9 is what I've heard. They're an easy houseplant, and they get really big over time. I have several of these if you want a pair of these at the price of the winning bid-- that's cool too. I'll charge actual shipping on these, if you win the auction, pay me for the plant and then I'll invoice you for the shipping when it goes out. I have lots more stuff for sale in my online store, adding more things every day as I get time. just go to www.northerntropics.com and click the link Thanks! Upright Elephant Ears, 03-08-2008 11:54
I've been using Upright EE's in bed arrangements for a couple of years for my customers... They're awesome!! You can use them in full sun, but they require a lot of watering (irrigation if at all possible). I brought one smaller Upright EE indoors this winter for the first time and I was amazed how well it did.

Macrorrhiza, 03-10-2008 06:46
These are said to get to be 5-6 feet tall by Agristarts. I've seen other estimates that show bigger, up to 9 feet tall, but I haven't kept a macrorrhiza long enough yet to see how big it gets. They are really easy to keep over winter indoors or in a greenhouse heated to around 50, they just don't look any different at all, and when the weather gets warmer, they take right off, whether still potted or planted in the ground.
