![]() Yes, Josh, it is. Actually a Brazilian cultivar, but very very common down here. Thing is, until it fruits, it looks just like a Cavendish.

![]() Take a look in my gallery - there are a couple of pictures of Oritos there - the only yellow ripe bananas in my gallery, in fact.
They are shorter than a Cav banana, tend to be round like a broomhandle (not triangular or square), and if you let them ripen naturally they are an unreal yellow colour. The skin is fine and thin, and when the finger is completely ripe it sticks just a little (more as they approach nanner-bread colour). An average hand is about 25 fingers, and there are normally (here at least) ten or so hands on a bunch. The flavour is finer, creamier than Cav bananas, more approaching fine Sedas or Gros Michel, with a firmer, crisper texture. As soon as the tree is in green-bunch stage, I'd be able to tell you definitively whether it's an Orito. The bunch is quite distinctive - where most bananas throw a barrel-shaped (tapering) bunch with smaller bananas at the bottom and top, Oritos throw a bunch that is tubular (does not taper). |

![]() my guess is also an ice cream....and I don't think this is a 3 story house...LOL but if it's ice cream Magic Green is the winner because she picked it first. I just think that's what it is, too! Can I have a banana (fruit)mailed to me if I was right? I don't think mine's ever going to bloom---can a banana grow to be 90 years old and 15 feet tall and never bloom?boo hoo...
