Problem with seller is that you sometimes see a feedback score of a couple thousand. So, why check? Dumb move. later on when you get burned you may find when you check feedback seller has 190 negatives. Of course the positives shown may be shown at 95% next to thier name along with the words power seller. So you trust them. In New Jersey we say "forget about it"

I have a 'Little Prince' that I got from Kylie last year. It was in about a 2-3" pot when I got it. Today it is in an 8" pot and is only about a foot tall, if that. I really like it, though I don't conisder it a bonsai as bonsai is an art form that requires specialized trimming and sometimes training the specimen to grow in a certain style/direction. It's a cool little plant for sure!

Okay just out of curosity I went out and cut a Little Prince pup that is a bout 3" tall.. The problem I see with it is the p-stem diameter is the size of quarter and to get enough crom for roots that takes up most of the pot
(3").. All my little pups are fat..I wonder what they are selling??

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I'm reminded my aunt & uncle dressed up as Raggedy Ann & Andy on the TV game show Let's Make A Deal and won an AMC Gremlin. (That's a car, FYI)

I have to say, though, that I've been limiting my purchases of purely ornamental plants. I almost bought a Siam 50/50 the other day but held back. With high fuel and resulting transportation costs, along with some concerns I have about the global economy in general, I have more of an urge to grow things that are actually useful producers of food rather than devoting energy sources to things that are purely ornamental. I don't believe zone 9 will ever allow me to grow bananas as a staple food item, but I can still get enjoyment out of them and get some fruits from time to time.

Just my $.02
i have to disagree i think zone 9 is just fine for growing Bananas as a food sores

If you read my comments again, I did not say that bananas can't be grown as a food source in zone 9. On the contrary, I did say that we can get "some fruits from time to time." However, people in warmer zones have always been able to get larger bunches of bananas. I did say that I don't think they can be a staple food item. A staple food item is one that you can depend on to reliably meet your food requirements. Zone 9 will sometimes have a hard freeze that will sometimes have hard freezes that will wipe out the pseudostems of most banana plants, even of so-called hardy selections, and even some corms. After a week of temperatures in the low 20s in January 2007 I had 3 of 4 plants die back to the corm and the 4th died completely. I would have hated to depend on a diet of self-grown bananas for the rest of 2007. I suppose I could dry up a lot of bananas in preparation for a famine year, but that also requires extra energy. Nuts, temperate fruits, grains, etc. are much more reliable food sources in zone 9. I can grow all of those without any inputs from the outside while my bananas do require some protection in the coldest of years to survive.

I'm a third generation farmer in zone 9 and stand by my comments because I understand the limitations (and benefits) of my climate.

I've seen Raggedy Ann and Andy jumping up and down on commercials of Let's Make A Deal! Do you think there were more people dressed up like that or maybe it was your aunt and uncle???

Anyway... it's pretty cool!!

Gosh, I don't know, I haven't watched much TV for 10 years and haven't watched Let's Make a Deal for probably 25-30 years. My aunt and uncle were on about 30 or so years ago. Of course, it was pre-recorded, but they didn't tell us what they had won. It was very suspenseful! The also won $50 worth of Jiffy Pop popcorn which they mostly donated to a children's home. Why I remember some of these things is beyond me. I often think the we should be able to reformat our hard drive (brains).

It actually ended up being a pretty good car for them and I don't remember if it was a fire hazard or not. They didn't get the car that day, so there probably was no risk to the popcorn involved! I do remember a commercial for the car showing how someone could make a really wide sub sandwich in the back seat...maybe they had 3 Italian men in the back seat or something like that.

I wonder how many bananas the could fit in a Gremlin???????

We used to call her car "The Goblin" like Batmans nemisis because it was shiny, metallic, 'blowfly' green and it sounded sorta like gremlin .
