Yangambi km5 growth problem.

My km5 is growing very slowly and most of the stem is 2 inches in diameter. It has two healthy suckers growing. Should I cut down the plant and let the suckers grow? Do I have a disease problem with this plant? See pictures below. thanks - Key West

It has been in the ground for a year in Key West, FL. It has been growing all year long, but very slowly. - Key West
