Default Wrapping bananas in blue plastic

I read somewhere that once the last hands of bananas come out, wrap the banana bunch in blue plastic to protect it from birds, squirrels and insects. Punch small holes in the bottom to let water drain. I read that this will also help the ripening process, which takes about 2 months. Does anyone do this? where do you buy blue plastic sheets?

Thanks!
