It's a FHIA banana, that seems to be the gist of the dialogue, how much better the FHIA varieties are than the originals. That's obviously in the tropics, somewhere in Africa I would guess.
I just thought it was something to see, a bunch it takes 2-3 men to carry. What do you- suppose they weigh in at? 120 lbs?

What it seems I actually have: Brazilian, Cavendish, Namwah, Dwarf Red, Gros Michel, Pisang Ceylon, Veinte Cohol and SH 3640, and American Goldfinger. FHIA 1, Paggi and FHIA 17... Always room for one more. |

so far what I have read, it can grow in zone 8a. considered to be in the large Cavendish type. also came from gran nain and gros Michel. taste is similar to a goldfinger.

They do not practice sustainable farming. These are most likely doused in chemicals everyday to create a rack like that. I wouldn't eat those bananas.

Sorry... But they use a lot of insecticide, pesticides, and chemical fertilizers on their mono-culture bananas. Just look up feeding regiment for Brazil.

I would not say the taste of FHIA-17 is similar to Goldfinger. Doesn't have any of the nice tartness of Goldfinger. Much more similar to Cavendish.
