Winterizing my non hardy bananas in zone 7
 

Hi

I have 3 non hardy bananas in my yard in zone 7. Musa Plantain, Thousand fingers and Dwarf Cavendish. I don't get bananas here, it's just for foliage.
Shall I dig them up and store in my basement or simply leave them in ground and mulch them well.

If the corms freeze they won't come back. I'm guessing your ground freezes below the surface in your area? Perhaps others in zone 7 have experience?

Zone 7 can have winter lows in the 10 - 0 deg F range. If you want to keep them, for next year, get 'em indoors. They'd need an unusually mild winter to be able to survive.
I may be in Hawai'i now.
But, I lived in Alaska for 35 years in zones 5 to 1 before coming here.
I never tried to grow bananas there.

EDIT:
Just noted that you live near Atlanta.
I do have to admit, it's almost tropical compared to Alaska.
But, even if you do have a mild winter, they'll be in better condition for next year's growing season if brought indoors and not subjected to the winter temps.
Keep in mind that my only banana growing experience is here in Hawai'i.
I just have a lot of experience with cold.
