Wilting pup

The pup that I just cut off and potted up today has wilting leaves. It has about 1.5 feet of P-stem and is a water pup. Is this just because of transplant shock or something similar? The cut I made was pretty clean.

I wonder if the sun could have anything to do with it ?

They always wilt a bit then come back strong.

Exactly. Expect to loose any existing leaves. Once rooted it will make new ones.

The pup was shaded by the mother plant before, so I moved it into part shade. Maybe that will help?

Next time dig the pup in the evening ,when it's cool, leave whatever soil comes out with the pup on. Pot it and place in shade. Less wilt and sometimes none at all.

I just dig them up and whatever roots came out stay and just plant them. They always wilt a little the first week or two then perk up and take off. Mulch them a lot after they are stable and growing.

yeah what Tony said, seperate pups after the sun goes down and is cooler. the pup I cut off a few weeks back now putting out it's second leaf didn't wilt for a few days. lower leaves might die back just snip them off and it will take off in no time!
