![]() My heater went out in my greenhouse for several hours before I caught it. So my RajaPuri was in about 30 degrees for a few hours. The pseudo stem is still firm and green, but the leaves look very sad. Will it survive?

![]() If it stays at the freezing point for to long, the leaves will freeze and soon die, but the roots will still be fine, it will haft to regrow if that happens, if you put bubble wrap around the stem and some of the leaves, it will insulate the plant until you fix your heater.

![]() Do you mean it will have to regrow from the ground, or that the p stem will send up more leaves?

![]() When it's cold, it will slow down the production of leaves, so it will take time to re grow. if you chop just the leaves off and put some bubble wrap around it, it will be fine.

![]() Let it be and remove any dark brown mushy portions as they appear. It is what it is at this point. Worst case, it should pup when it is warm enough.

will have to cut the mashed part off and it will grow from there. I have just tried your Flickr URL and got the message: "This picture is private, you have no right to access it". That brings me to a request. I have transferred a few pictures to Flickr just recently, but have no idea, if you could access it. Would you please try this one and let me know. If I go there I will of course be automatically logged in. Thanks, Olaf

![]() Hi, Thazo,
I have just looked at the picture, but cannot tell if the top portion of the PS is still sound. You have to feel it. Do not cut off anything, which is still firm, otherwise it will have to regrow just that much more. Good luck, Olaf

![]() Pretty sure it is still fine. Rajapuri is known for tolerating cold pretty well, and even among my slightly cold hardy bananas, I've had 4+ foot P-Stems survive 30 degrees for multiple nights.
The banana in the photo is perfectly alive, just let the leaves drop then chop them, and a new one will emerge from the top once temps get back up again. It may take a while. |

![]() Thanks. Yeah the top is still firm. And the lights in the room make the stem look more yellow than it is. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
