We wil have our first frost Thursday night so I plan to dig up my big Ice Cream during the day for storage i my garage.
How do I handle the corn, do I trim off most roots and wrap it in newspaper and burlap or how do I treat the corn and roots? Do I cut the roots back slightly or how do you do? I plan to cut off all blades except one. Currently I am planning to dig up my biggest Gran Nain and my big Ice Cream and an unknown banana I have had for a year. This is the first time I am doing this so hence my question. I saw some postings before but they didn't go into detail on how to wrap the roots/corn. Many thanks for a quick answer since frost is only 36 h left. |

I would cut off all the leaves and roots and wash off all of the soil. Make sure the corms are dry and clean. Leaving any leaves on will increase water loss, and since there are no functioning roots, there is no way to take up water to replace the lost water.
