![]() OK! I'm curious about this new wiki feature of the forum. Apparently wiki are pages on a topic which we all can edit. For instance, I could write everything I know about a particular cultivar of banana, Gabe could come along after me and correct my many errors, and Mitchell could add pictures of his plants and his experience w/ that cultivar. At least that is about how Wikipedia, the interactive on-line encyclopedia works, w/ a fair amount of editing these days. I've been teaching a 2 week course segment on Linguistics almost entirely from Wikipedia materials for several years now, so I know the quality of such pages can be very good.
What I'm wondering is, what do we want to write about? For instance, I've decided to make a pole greenhouse this winter, rather than a cattle panel greenhouse, because I plan to take down the plastic sheets in the Spring and turn the frame into a grape arbor. If I stick to the plan I'll build an 8'x12' greenhouse each winter next to the arbor, and add it to the arbor in the Spring. I doubt if that would draw enough interest to get a lot of material added to a "pole greenhouse wiki", but we might get a dozen designs for greenhouses on a "Greenhouse Wiki". We could even have a rating or check system- cost, appearance, longevity, versatility, success in over wintering, etc. On a more general note we might need something like a 'freeze' on data after a period of time, and/or approval and editing by moderators. I remember those spammers we had a while back, and could see them ruining a wiki or making it difficult to recover very quickly. Anyway, any good topics? TC? Soil & fertilization? Species? Paul |

![]() Yep, Paul, it will be very similar to Wikipedia.
Those would all be very good pages in the wiki, they logically tie in with the banana theme. You guys can run amuck with the wiki, have a blast with it. Just try and keep it on topic, and if you create a greenhouse page, I would hope you stick the word banana in there every now and then, talk about how you built your greenhouse for your bananas. You get the idea... Off to go spend some more time on it between handing out candy.
