Hmm, intriguing. I like the map at the bottom of the wiki that does not show any .org members growing it, haha. I suspect in Kentucky they just take a dwarf cavendish, feed it lots of bourbon, and it somehow survives

Basjoo is the only thing that could survive there. I grew basjoo for years in zone 4/5 in ohio depending on the winter that year. They would get to 6ft and very thick p-stems and i watered and feed them alot. I would always cut them down and mulch over them. Needless to say never got a flower.

That happens to my Raja Puri's lower leaves. I think it's from cold stress.
