When to harvest

So after searching threads on this forum and internet for hours I have questions about when to harvest.
I see plenty of pics of people holding the whole bunch cut from the plant w maybe just a single yellow banana, but my issue is I have some bananas on bunch that are ripe but others are still clearly developing. I may not get a chance again to have ripe bananas so I don’t wanna screw up. Can I cut single fruits off and not damage the rest of the bunch? Or do I cut the whole bunch off and they will continue to plump/develop? Thanks

Can you just cut off one hand at a time? Some bunches are very tight together which would make this difficult, but it would work with a more open bunch. Also, if you can't reach it, this would be hard to do.

Ok thanks yup one of the hands is turning yellow. I can try that and hopefully not damage the others. I just snipped off a single to try, was very good. Will let the next one go one more day.

In almost all cases if any fruits are ripening then the whole bunch is done forming and should be harvested. Towards the bottom of the bunch, the hands tend to be smaller and often with a number of very small, malformed fruits, but those will never get bigger. Just harvest the whole bunch and everything will ripen and it’ll be fine.

Yup I was thinking that was a possibility. Some of the fruits havnt changed shape or size in a month. Thanks

Gabe, if there is some damage to part of the bunch, might those 'nanners ripen earlier (or maybe later) than the rest?

Yes I noticed this too I believe..... Tree rat chewed nanas ripened faster I think than the rest...
