Whats wrong
3 Attachment(s)
I have a clump of Lasiocarpas and a couple of them have developed a strange marking on the leaf. It is on both sides and is a dark purple to near black.
Could it be some sort of diesese? |
Re: Whats wrong
It looks similar to the streaks in my 'Cleopatra' canna, which is technically a chimera. This could be one of several things: disease, virus, nutrient deficiency, or watering problems, etc. Has this plant previously been healthy or did you just purchase it?

Re: Whats wrong
Not saying this is what you have, but here is a link about Black Sigatoka, aka Black Leaf Streak Virus. APSnet Feature - Black Sigatoka of Banana - The most important disease of a most important fruit

Re: Whats wrong
Brent, i seen you put watering problem, could be a fungus, maybe clean out some of the debree in the pot so they can breath a little better? cut back on watering, and not sure the lasiocarpa is succeptable to the sigatoka?

Re: Whats wrong
Wow, that doesn't look good. I will be interested to hear the experts opinions on this one. Hope it is nothing too serious!

Re: Whats wrong
I was given it a month or so ago. The rest of the clup are doing fine. It does need a clean up so I may remove them just in case.
It maybe sat in too much water. |
Re: Whats wrong
Mark,
What have your temps been like lately? Maybe it is just a combination of low temps and a bit too much water. Hopefully it'll pull out of it. |
Re: Whats wrong
Recent temps have been a lot cooler and we are also getting too much rain!!
It needs to be planted out in the garden rather than being sat in a pot. Thanks for everyones help. Mark |
