Well...California Gold is considered to be a sport of Dwarf Orinoco and possibly others...so:

From what I understand, it is when a pup emerges with noticeably different traits than the mother had. I am sure someone else can further explain this "phenomenon".

As I understand it - a sport is a naturally occurring variation that usually happens vegetatively, and can be propagated. But I'm open to correction as usual!! lol!!

Most often a game played with some sort of ball (shape, size, color and texture may vary, though other equipment may be used.

In plants, a naturally occuring mutation or variation, usually affecting one branch of a tree, or in bananas, one pup.
