First Manzano flower for me. Should have several soon behind this one. Makes my 4th flower right now. Good timing this year.

My Brazilian, flower drooping now, ready to produce fruit...

It is nine feet tall where the flower comes out. I thought Brazilians were big. This is the second bunch, as this is the first pup of the original. Dwarf maybe? Anyway, excited to have a flower this time of year. Should make a nice raceme. (As of now, it's the only one I have big enough to flower. The next three pups are all about the same size, and should be of age in a couple months.)

Varieties I supposedly bought: Manzano, Cavendish, Blue Java, Sweetheart, and Gros Michel.
What it seems I actually have: Brazilian, Cavendish, Namwah, Dwarf Red, Gros Michel, Pisang Ceylon, Veinte Cohol and SH 3640, and American Goldfinger. FHIA 1, Paggi and FHIA 17... Always room for one more.

I got a 1000 fingers banana plant pup from Florida Hills 07/08/2013. It is finally blooming. I should know soon if I have the correct plant.

My first FHIA-17, about 1 year to flower

First FHIA-03. Probably going to miss this one since I'll be on vacation soon.

Ele Ele in the back, Maoli in the front, possibly Maoli Kaualau

African Rhino Horn about 6 weeks from bud emergence

This is a weird one given to me as "Ixino" but with no info on it. Thought it was a cavendish with its short, open petioles. Now that it's flowering it clearly isn't. Odd fruit shape. Male flowers with more pilali than any other I've grown. About 6' tall. Quite a lot of black on the plant. Perhaps some AA type? Reminds me of Veinte Cohol in terms of size, open petioles, lots of black but otherwise isn't based on the bunch appearance.

Pitogo with about 2 months of growth since flowering.

Rob, the color of the male bracts of "Ixino" sure make it look like something unusual, unless the lighting was strange. I look forward to more reports on it from you.

They are quite interesting! Here are a couple earlier pics. Especially interesting before it even opened.

Another pic from today, June 9 2016. Brazilian pup#1. Looks like about 80 fingers, so far. I think there will be more, time will tell. The original was a TC which flowered in late November after only 9 months and had 65 fingers which took 5 months to ripen. They were small but good. Hoping these get larger and ripen quicker being it flowered in June and the pup is much larger than the original.

Finally done blooming. This is the first pup on my Brazilian. I ended up with 80 fingers, not as much an increase from the 65 on my original TC this pup came from, but I will take it, I guess. Hopefully they will get a bit larger this time, although it doesn't look like it will be a huge difference there, either. I have three more pups of the original which will likely flower in the next couple months as well, so there's that.

I have several different varieties blooming at the moment. All of these trees are first year tissue culture plants.

Fake Ice cream ( 4 seperate trees )

Dwarf Namwa

Pisang Raja

Ice cream ( bought from going bananas in Homestead )

Sweetheart, By far the largest tree with massive girth.

Dwarf Namwa

Your Dwarf Namwah sure looks like an Ice Cream, even more so than the one from Going Bananas.

I thought the same thing. That Namwa was also purchased from going bananas and it flowered at a height of 5 feet. The one I had labeled as ice cream from going bananas flowered at 9 feet but it most definitely appears to not be an ice cream. The photo of the Namwa fruit makes the fruit to be more blueish in color than they really are. The fruit is more silverish in color and very waxy.
I harvested the Namwa bunch about five minutes ago and will let you know what the fruit tastes like within a few days.
