Looks good, but doesn't look like Rajapuri. It should have retained male flowers and bracts and it doesn't.

The bracts have been falling off naturally. I have been flicking off the male flowers as they come out. I don't want those hanging around. I saw a forum member (I think it was Dan) picture with a snake hanging out in the old male flowers. If the misses saw that as a garden resident my banana days would be over!

If you still don't think that its a Raja Puri, what would be your educated guess?

Bananas Brindando Re: What's blooming in your garden? (bananas)

Our third bloom this year and our largest Orinoco. It looks like loads of fingers on these hands and two opened within 6 hours of each other.

Okay one hand every 6 hours!

"Not Mona Lisa"

Could be some sort of Pisang Awak ("Namwah"), but my recollection of what the fruit were like that Sunfish let me try a couple of years ago doesn't seem right for that. Definitely an ABB variety. Maybe when it ripens I'll have a better idea of what it is. Tough plant.

A couple Pisang Klotek are blooming. Interesting bunch shape this time, very loose unlike all past bunches. The original stand was savaged for pups and the new stand is still young (first bunch) which could explain things. I'm happy to have some PK fruit soon again, it's been a long time!

The male flowers aren't dropping from the stem - I don't recall my Namwah doing that last year- pretty sure the male flowers drop-- will know soon as my Tall Namwah aka. Ice Cream is pushing a bloom.
