You guys who live in consistently warm places make me jealous: 13 months from small TC to flowering! That's faster than the fastest I've had, and that was planted from a very large pup. None of the few plants I've planted as small TC's have flowered yet. It's been over two years, and most aren't even near flowering.

It's been great! About 18 months ago is when I went banana crazy and started acquiring many different varieties. Lately, I've been getting a new first bloom for a variety about every month. There have been just a few varieties that have flowered in just over a year. On the other hand I have a tall Cuban Red which is going on 5 years without fruit.

Well you made me feel better -- my Dwarf Red is flowering after "only" 2 years and 10 months. Laughably, I have a Dwarf Cav planted at the same time that still hasn't flowered. It's getting the axe eventually, but I'd like it to bloom once before it joins the compost pile!

Congrats on all the different varieties flowering for you. And keep up the taste reports!

More than 10 keikis (pups)
Mine had about 10 before I started cutting them out and giving them away. I hope yours has a bigger bunch than mine did.

[quote=robguz24;216154]Well my Aloha Tropicals Praying Hands is the real thing. 15 months from planting a small TC. Of the 7 varieties from AT that I purchased and have identified, this praying hands is the only correct one. 1 out of 7 is not good!

Okay. I have to know. What were the wrong varieties? Please don't tell me that their Goldfinger is wrong.

The GF and Raja Puris (bought 3mos apart) are Namwah. Their Ele Ele was namwah. Their Monkey Fingers is 1000 Fingers, which I have. Their Golden Pillow was also 1000 fingers. The only ones from them that I haven't figured our are Ebun Musak, Pitogo, African Rhino Horn, Red Kru that looks like ARH, a Pisang Raja which so far doesn't seem as I 've read it should look. Of all those, I can confirm that they definitely got one right, the praying hands. I'm stuck with many others that I don't want or am not sure what they are. No way to treat a customer. I'll have to decide what to remove. No small inconvenience in my little yard.

Namwa! My favorite. Not. How tall was your Goldfinger Namwa and when did you get it? Hoping I got the real thing, but it sounds like it's going to be hard to go one for one when you went one for seven.

If you ever need to shed some keiki's agian, I would be very appreciative. Did you get it from Ko'olau?

It was a several inch high TC. It has the same pink streaks on the p-stem, a hint of pink on the underside of the cigar leaf when it emerges, and very closed petioles like my namwahs. I hope you were lucky with yours.

Thank you Rob. Have those fruited for you? My plant is on Lana'i, at my mother's house. I will have my brother give me the low down. The plant is about 10 months old, but from what I understand it is still only a few feet tall. Thank you man

No fruit yet, mine is 13 months old, but in a more shady spot so it's been slow growing.

The "Not Goldfinger" likely Tall Namwah (again).

Are you totally sure that it is not Goldfinger? I know Gold finger supposed be mostly green and such. It's strange that AT does not even have Namwa on his variety list, yet he seems to be dealing them out as other varieties?

Mine came from the 4-seasons store at the Pearl Harbor NEX. I think I'll have one or two, but cheson74 asked first, after that I'll see what's there.

Thank you Yug. I just got a good sized Popoulu keiki from a friend today, so that should be good enough for that subgroup. I appreciate it though. Aloha

Williams, looking to be a big bunch.

Huamoa, not looking like a big bunch, but already the fruit are short and fat with a wrinkled peduncle.

Where did you get the Huamoa from? Was it a TC?

Huamoa a TC from Novelty Greens. Got it at the Hilo Home Depot 13 months ago for $7. All my TCs from them or AT have grown much faster on average than any pups I've bought.

I was wondering. Nicolas Naranja was mentioning how TC's from this variety is strange. Maybe there's something about that and these smaller bunches.
