hi
i got a sikkimensis that has hanging leafs wich are becoming to look dead. the plant just looks like if there is no life there. i keep it indoors behind a window where it stands in the sun , for months it was on that spot. i think i have kept it wayyy too wet , is this possible ? greets |
Re: what is wrong ?
From what I have read if roots are kept too wet they can rot!

Re: what is wrong ?
I learned a lesson last months, I putted my basjoo, velutina and musella inside and gaved them lots of water, they all died.
Now I bought new ones and I keep them much drier, and they dont rot anymore!! succes with your nananas! |
Re: what is wrong ?
What you are describing definitely sounds like root rot to me. I would remove it from the soil, clean any and all dead roots off of the corm completely, and then soak the corm in a fungicide mixture for a while. Replant in some fresh, sterile medium in a different, clean pot. Your chances of success are slim to none at this stage, but I have brought back a seemingly hopeless corm suffering from Pythium root rot doing this. I soaked the corm in a solution of RD-20 (2tsp/gal.), but I don't know if you have that on your side of the pond. Good luck.
Oh yes...make sure you discard that soil into the trash, and either throw out the pot or sterilize it very well! |
