All I have that is old enough to have produced fruit are my Orinocos, but it has been a while since I tried to count cultivars, so when I read your post I went out and made a list!
Five month old tissue cultures, from 3" to 2' tall: Double Kru Red Enholene Dwarf Brazilian 1000 Fingers Older TCs from A&B Nursery, all doing well, but still in pots: Tuu Ghia Praying Hands Sweetheart African Rhinohorn Rose Pup sized plants, mostly 3'-4', and in the ground: Raja Puri Ice Cream Apple Misi Luki Dwarf Red Dwarf Cavendish SD Cavendish Basjoo Zebrina And finally, the related plants I'd never have gotten w/out the bad influence of certain people on this list: Musella lasiacarpa Ensete maurelii I guess all are doing well, except that some of the TCs are huge and some still very small. I have moved about 60 into 3 bathtubs, and all seem to be doing better w/ the additional space. I was originally concerned about their drainage, but so far, so good. The drains are open, of course, then I filled the tubs w/ leaves from the yard and topped it off w/ potting soil and Black Cow. Paul Last edited by PaulOdin : 08-02-2006 at 02:26 PM. |

I have a small collection:
Musa basjoo (planted 2000) Musa basjoo 'Sapporo' (planted 2001) Musa basjoo 'Sakhalin' (planted 2002) Musa sikkimensis Musa sikkimensis 'Red Tiger' Musa sp. Antalya (Dwarf Cavendish??) Musa cheesmani Musa yunnanensis Musa nagensium 'Florale Noire' Musa thomsonii Musa sp. Helen's Hybrid (probably sikkimensis x Chini Champa, seed from Rarepalmseeds, one hardy fruit banana) ![]() Dhusré Dwarf Cavendish from Tenerife ![]() Dwarf Orinoco ![]() Musella lasiocarpa The both sikkimensis have now puped , they both are now 6 feet tall and one year old. The three basjoos are outplanted and have survived the past winters outdoors with winterprotection. My dream is to increase my collection, but no chance in the climate in Germany, so I plan to emigrate. Shit, it is now raining strongly, so that I cannot take current photos of my bananas in my yard yet. I hope in the next weekend. Happy banana growing Joachim |

I have 3 Musa yunnanensis self grown from seed from Nature Products. 2 feet tall and one year old !
Two of them outplanted in my yard and one in pot in my greenhouse. But the outplanted are too small to overwinter with basjoo winterprotection so that I consider to dig them up in the fall again and pot them in again.Happy growing bananas Joachim |
