What kind of tree is this?
I posted a tree to my profile. Can anyone tell me what kind of tree this is? I live in Austin, TX and I want to know when to harvest it.
Thank you! |

Re: What kind of tree is this?
Is there an over all picture of the plant? ... And, how tall is the pstem?
It is most likely an Orinoco, but I've been wrong before. |

Re: What kind of tree is this?
I see yellow male flowers or yellow tips. That makes it anything but Orinoco. Orinoco has purple flowers. Yellow tips could make it a Brazilian or manzano. Totally yellow flowers makes it an A type like cavendish. Hard to tell without better pics and more info. Height? History where it came from. Leave the male flower on and take lots of pics so an expert can ID it.

Re: What kind of tree is this?
Not sure where you got that idea. Yes, Orinoco has purple male flowers, except for the tips, which are yellow.

Re: What kind of tree is this?
True they do have some yellow parts at the flowers tip. On mine especially from a distance they still look mostly purple, just a lighter purple towards the end. On the picture of this banana there looks to be solid bright yellow tips. It's so hard to tell in the picture though. A close up picture would help a lot.

Re: What kind of tree is this?
Sorry I don't. I would love to have that resource also. All I really go by is pictures of my varieties.
