What do you do when Banana's flower is ruined?
My unknown banana flowered in November, bad timing. It formed some baby bananas, size of a finger about and they were destroyed by the winter weather. The main stem looks okay.
Should I just cut the flowering part off? Will the same stem flower again? Just cut the whole thing down and let one of the pups take over? Was the first time my banana flowered. Thanks |

Cut the whole flowering pstem down to the ground. It will not grow anymore. It last job will be mulch for the new pups.

Re: What do you do when Banana's flower is ruined?
The pstem is spent when it flowered. It would normally keep growing to support the banana bunch until they ripen, then die. There is no bunch, so cut it down to encourage new growth with the pups.
