What to do while on vacation
I am planning on going out of town for a week the last week of June and I just thought who is going to water all my plants while I am gone? I am not sure if I can trust a neighbor to do it and my family that lives close will also be gone. It normally takes me over an hour to water everything by hand (not including the lawn). I have heard about putting sprinklers on timers but if I did that I would need a lot of sprinklers and hoses to do that. I have the east, south and west sides of my house landscaped with bananas, palms and other tropicals that need water daily when its hot and sunny and doesnt rain. The past couple weeks its been in the 80s and 90s and not much rain. The warm sunny weather has been great for my bananas, they are growing like crazy now.
Anyone have any ideas on what to do to water your plants while on vacation? I would be willing to pay someone to water who knows what they are doing and enjoys plants. My other option is just to stay home and not go on vacation. But I would still take the week off work. |

Soaker hoses with the tap barely open?

I would say either use the timers or just soak everything.

Bring in lots of mulch and a good soaking should be okay for a week

I'd plan ahead but not lay anything in solid ground till you know the forecast for the time your off.. If its going to rain your good.. go to someplace its not raining and enjoy yourself :^)

Re: What to do while on vacation
Problem has been solved. Corbin in St Louis has offered to come out and water my plants (bananas, palms and various tropical plants) while I am gone for a week. He came out yesterday for watering training. Its much better to have someone lined up to water than to invest in timmers and soaker hoses. That way if it rains he can adjust the watering schedule while I am gone.
Thanks again Corbin. |

Well, darn...I didn't even get a chance to offer :( I'm in STL and don't have much going on either.
