What to do with a twisted stem

https://postimg.cc/fS4NTPbX

I just bought a new corm for a "blue java" and it shows the stem is twisted for about 1ft of length. What is the best method to deal with it? Should I cut the whole thing back?

Thank you for your help! This cultivar is expensive right now and I don't want to mess it up.

Well you could cut below the twist of leave it alone it will sort things out or you can put a splint on it. :ha:

I have never put a splint on a banana plant but it might work. In an old thread someone did that.

So either just leave it along or cut before the twist. Will it still fruit if it starts all twisted like that? Its getting late into the season for planting and I don't really want it to start from corm again.

they do that when the pot falls over and left unattended. you can cut it off or you can plant it in the ground with the com sideways, maybe with the plant going at a slight angle.

If I planted it sideways im not sure how it will hold the weight once full grown. I guess ill just cut then and hope it regrows faster. Thanks for yalls input.

wont bother it. i have planted them in the ground with the corm straight up, but not bent to that extreme.

Set the corm straight up and see what happens with the pstem. The corm is the plant & the growing pstem is the limb. If the stem doesn't straighten itself it can be cut back later.

been there done that. it takes a lot out of them straightening up. tip a pot and they bend with a quickness but to straighten back up takes much more time, wastes their energy.

this one is a little bitty thing. Could cut it off now just below the first bend[ or let it grow more to build up the pstem then cut it later. don't really mater.

just put it in the ground and it will work itself out!
