What to do with frozen bananas?
So we went through the big freeze this January and all my naner plants froze. I left everything in place and am beginning to see pups. What to do with my giant brown corpses? I peeled a few brown strips off a Cavendish today and the entire thing collapsed. It smells absolutely awful. Cut everything down and toss onto the mulch pile? Some of my “trunks” are 7-8 inches in diameter.

Yes cut or wait till they dry up and fall off. At the nasty stinky stage that’s too late for cutting for me! I just let them rot down and dry up. You can just pull them off later easily! By now the damage is done so leaving them should help the pups more than harm them!
I have cut most of mine but still have a few big ones. Nasty! |

Re: What to do with frozen bananas?
I cut em up frozen on my cereal. I freeze my bananas all the time. It's a great way to keep & use over ripe (but not black) bananas or those that may become over ripe before being used. Breads and other recipes that call for mashed banana are a good use for frozen.
But I see ya'll are taking about frozen nana plants. Cut the pstem off where the stalk is firm; or let it rot & fall over. |
