Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
Mskitty - the red flower near the top of the picture is a rather old red ginger flower that should have been tidied away, the patch of red near the bottom is a caladium leaf.

Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
Dean - Nope - but hopefully I will get some pictures of the mother plant and its fruit later today and perhaps someone here can id it for me. The man who sold it to me just called it a banana (always the case - never a name to go with it). Leaves are quite long and pointed and the fruit are very small.

Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
i was waiting out for the mail carrier today...not like i was excited or anything... LOL! thank you so much steve, the african red is doing well the ruby looks a little wilted but she will be fine in a few days. ive noticed that when you transplant any type of nana with red on the leaves it wilts for about a week. my hcm's, bloodleaf's and d.c's did the same and they are all doing great! so i give her a week in the shade and she should be good as new. im just excited to have them both. thanks again steve!

Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
I planted a 6 foot cardaba, I now have 6 cardabas total on the property. I'm hoping for at least 10 feet tall. My plants seem to be a little shorter than spec due to the fact that they have so much sun they don't have to grow tall to compete for light.

Thanks,
I'm in Mesa Az. I have marked my location in the google map, although the satelite pic is about 2 years old when my house was still under construction. Where is the other place you are saying I should ad my location? |

Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
Just got 5 new bananas today. They are getting potted this weekend.
Pisang Raja, Monthan, Ka-ua-lau, Ha'a, and Pitogo. Also got some Bambusa Ventricosum Buddha Belly and 'Kimmei' Buddha Belly. A nice Puya Alpestris came yesterday, too. It will be a busy weekend. Off to HD to get more stuff to extend my drip system and of course, more soil! Sorry, no pics at present until I get my camera cradle - left it back in Illinois. Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
Wow, congrats on the Ae Ae Frank! I hadn't seen Jordon post here for a while and I wondered what what was going on with his "brother" project. Another Florida friend of mine from another group wrote me recently to let me know he was coming up on the list. Good luck with it!
