I planted a mango seed. I don't know anything about mangos, but hopefully it will come up.

Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
Planted a Siam Ruby, a M. lasciocarpa and a Sikkim. Trying to decide if the dwarf Cavendish (?) I have in a pot should stay or go into the ground for the summer. It has a lot of nice red in the leaves.

Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
This is my third attempt this year at starting my papaya plants. This germination method was very successful. The seeds were soaked for 48 hours in warm water. They were then transferred to a ziplock bag on top of a paper towel wet with bleach water (one drop of bleach per cup). After one week when the seeds opened and the roots started to grow the seeds were transfer to coconut starter pellets.

I hope they fruit for you in record time so you can determine the variety, and of course: enjoy the fruits of your labor!

Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
Received a Viente Cohol from Going Bananas today and transplanted it temporarily to a 7 gal pot with coconut husk as the medium. It's a beautiful pup when I received it with lots of corm and roots are beginning to spread out on the medium it is in. I am very happy with the transaction.

Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
followup:
I bought a cactus soil mix and mixed them with coconut husk chips and perlite to get a well drained soil mix and I transferred my VC to the same size pot today. I also take the pot inside at night because the tempt gets down to 50 outside.

Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
Got a sikkimensis for my son's house. He was nice enought to let me stay here until the big move to Las Vegas. When he saw all of my bananas (in pots) and targeted my Aeae, I had to go get him a banana before he pirated my pride and joy!

Re: What did you plant today (bananas)?
Today I planted the 1st Bananas I've ordered, a FHIA-23 and the Bronze Ornata. One for Food the other for Fun! I've got some local yard "nanners" which no one knows what they are and never bloom but these are the 1st named cultivars I've grown.
I was pleasantly surprised to find FHIA-23 has nicely marked leaves.Pretty and tasty! Cheers, Pat |
