![]() Although resisting the temptation, I want to kill the juvenile delinquents who vandalized my AeAe last night! They broke the pot, dumped the soil all over the driveway and stole the plant. I think they left the corm, so I might have a shot at getting it to grow back, but I am not sure. It was quite an unpleasant experience when I returned home last night.
I would like to make them eat green bananas until they are sick. Then repeat this for 3 days straight. Oh, AND replace my AeAe! |

![]() Definitely report it. Others may have also been victimized, and reporting could help authorities find them. My condolences, Scot.

![]() So far no one knows or saw anything. I was trying to decide whether to report it or not. I may try to bait them and video the little bastards. I wish tar and feathering were back in vogue - perhaps putting them into stocks or pillories.......or the whipping post, yeah!!!

![]() Scot, I would put up a big sign in front saying something like " reward for info regarding my stolen banana plant - Ae Ae. Please call....." Describe it.
Call police & report it & your ins. will pay the reward. Put up signs in your local super market. They have cork boards at entrances for any ads from ppl. Get the word out...some one will say something. It most likely is a neighbor kid. His friends will squeal for a reward!!! His mother will see it at market.

![]() Scot, that sucks.. Here's what I would do....
Make a police report on vandalism and theft. Then post a reward on the all the boards of the marts, schools and what not and include the police report's number. Then see what happens. If nothing happens, so be it. But you have had your message out - what the people did is illegal and what they did can be done to the others in the same area. Let ALL be aware. If you get a response, you can go back to the police with the info, or otherwise...I leave that to your imagination... I had a similar situation a long time ago. A grass cutter cut up my dog which is kept behind my house in an enclosed area. There were few gaps in the structure so my dog, Shadow, couldn't have done anything offensive except bark. When I came home I saw her skin dangling from her back, face and other parts all whacked. Shadow is a pitbull, if she was another breed, she would have been a goner.I was furious. First thing, I went off to the police station and made a report. Next stop I went to the office of the grass cutting contractor and called all the workers together. I told them what happened and then I took out a wad of rm500 and told them it's a reward if they gave up the name of the person who did that. On top of that, I told them that I want to chop off the right hand of that guy. I did it in all seriousness and anger then. Of course I never heard from them. The point is, these are rough people and they have to be treated the way they expect. From my info, the police captain realised that the 2 break ins in my neighbourhood on that same day could be done by this person as he is aware of the presence of people in their home. The grass cutters start very early and they are totally aware of the people's movement out of their house. Finally, Shadow healed very well and being very tough as what she is, lived to an old age of 12 yrs and passed away. Her scars were made her look cool (hey Lorax -scars make a man, scars make a greater woman!) After my speech to the idiots I never had any trouble in my neighborhood. I guess the word went round I wanted that guy's right hand. And I did... ![]() |

![]() Scott.......there's nothing I can say. There are fairly inexpensive motion activated cameras (easily concealed) hunters use to locate big bucks. People vadalizing hunt camps have been caught this way on many occaisions. Might be a good option if you think it will happen again. I really hope you catch them.
Tog , you were too kind. I won't put in print what I 'd do if someone intentionally hurt my dogs. |

![]() That's not good. It's just another reason why people need to hide their AeAe. I would actually look on the member map of people near you, as well. If you posted your actual house on this member map, it is not unrealistic that someone stopped by.
On the other hand, it is MOST likely someone living within a few blocks of you. Kylie, what zone are you? I put most of my plants in the basement last year, and a lot of them shriveled up and died. This year, I didn't put any in the basement, left most in the ground with protection, and I'm pretty sure the roots are intact, and most of the trunks are except maybe the top foot or so (which has been cut off). It should be a good banana year for me...try leaving yours in the ground with protection, too. |

![]() To chime in again...years ago my next door neighbor got brglarized. We figured kids from the area. She put out signs for a reward to arrest of burglar & described what was stolen. One of his friends ( unidentified to all but police) squeeled on his buddy. She got all her stuff back & her insurance paid the reward $$$.

![]() Taylor our temps fluctuate so much there is a good chance I could fry something depending on protection.. I also have a lot of other trops that have to come in and as we all know the more you collect the more changes to the landscape need to be made.. I can stick them under the house and never give them (for the most part..LOL poor DC's) another thought till Spring.. Which is good for me I have over a 100 Trop plants in the house and garage that will be looking for a home outside very soon.. and YES! I have more coming...The GH Fairy is on the way!!! hehehe
I am a Z8ish depends on who ya ask...LOL I hope you have AN AWESOME Banana season!!!!!! I can't wait o see what you come up with! Kylie ![]() |

![]() I had a friend who sold me an Ae Ae pup a few years ago. It was part of a clump that he planted in the front yard. Yeah right, of all places. A few weeks later, he emailed me that the other, bigger pups were pulled out of the ground during the night.
That's the way it goes folks. If you got something good, and you show it off right in front of their faces, someone will grab at it. Protect what is yours. The 6 foot Florida fence is the first step. A Chloe dog, Labrador Retriever, with acute hearing is the next. Having ten acres to plant it centrally is even better! Land mines and trip wires, the last resort, yuk, yuk. The next to last comment was a nod to my Uncle Frank at his SW Miami farmstead back in the 50's and 60's - the ten acre part, that is! He always answered the front door doorbell at nite with a gun in each pocket! Remember, Adrian Monk always says, "there's a jungle out there". Dan |

Not referring to any posts seen here. There was a post just before this that was VERY bizzare & gruesome. The guy was obviously on something. Glad it got deleted!
