Re: What did you harvest today (bananas)
Tree was falling over so I cut these off. Too soon but they did get ripe and tasted fine. |

Re: What did you harvest today (bananas)
Two small tetraploid (AAAA) bunches that were both grown in a container. Container size has a direct effect on the length of the vegetative phase, plant size, and bunch size. Choosing the proper size container to achieve your goals is important.

Re: What did you harvest today (bananas)
When it's a variety I've never harvested before, I always wait until I see at least one finger that is clearly turning yellow, and harvest just that finger -- often it is damaged an not indicative of the ripeness of the bunch. Orinoco in my climate looks very yellowish even when not really filled out and mature.

Where are you located? By your name maybe Ohio? If so there are several others there.

Re: What did you harvest today (bananas)
Cut down a nice fat bunch of SH3640. Almost forgot to remember the #1 rule in S Fla --- when the first few fingers turn solid yellow cut the bunch down. The tree ratz, aka squirrels, did a job on three fingers. Washed all the debris off and saved the bunch. And may I say --- the SH 3640 is one of the best tasting naners I grow. Went out and bought more cereal.
