I know different types of bananeros. The contracted one and the spot market. Contracted: you sign a contract with a big Company like ... for having a stable price for the next year. Spot market: you sell to whom most offers. This can be a very good business, because sometimes the contracted farms cannot fulfill their quotes and the big ones have to buy on the spot market, because it's much cheaper then a half loaded vessel. To find the balance is not so easy for a bananero and is a big problem for the bananeros with small plantations. Sometimes we worked for more then 4 companies in the same week, one contracted and 3 on the spot market. Last edited by Bananachris : 06-13-2008 at 10:30 AM. |
